Adventures in Country Living

BRB: The Beginning

After five years Liz and I decided last summer that it was time to move from the city of Winona to the country where we could realize a few ideals that had been floating around our heads for years. We saw the Big Red Barn and knew instantly this was the place for us. We moved in on October 1st and enjoyed a brief fall before our first winter. Many challenges came our way, snow blowing drifts became a daily chore just to get down the driveway and short daylight hours took their toll but we survived and are more prepared to deal with the coming winters. We start this blog to keep ourselves in check, our ideals in the forefront and our family and friends updated. Enjoy the Big Red Barn with us with all the challenges and learning experiences along the way.

  1. Your property is amazingly beautiful! I am so jealous of what I see in these pictures.

  2. Thank you very much. We love it I can tell you that, so do our dogs. It is beautiful with so much room to grow and evolve with us. I picture grape vines, black berry bushes and a couple gardens. Compost piles need to be constructed (hoping in the next two weeks), we have much learning to do but we know what we want to get out of the Big Red Barn, this place will be with us for a long time.
